What to expect
As you plan your visit with us, please take a moment to review these frequently asked questions as  to what to expect from Michiana Baptist Church.

What should I wear?

At Michiana there is no dress code for members or guests.
Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday Best” clothes; men often wear suits while many ladies wear dresses.  Everyone feels comfortable and welcome in our services regardless of how they dress.

What should I bring?
As you attend our preaching services you’ll find that we use our Bibles a lot! Every one is encouraged to bring your Bible and expect God to speak to your heart.

Which Bible do you use?
Perhaps you have noticed that there are several translations available today. It can be confusing to know which one to use.  At Michiana we exclusively use the King James Version.  If you don't have a Bible we would like to give you a brand new one to keep as you come visit us for the first time. We want everyone to have a copy of God’s Word!

Will I have to do anything publicly?
No! We will not ask you to speak, stand or even be acknowledged publicly. Our people will go out of their way to speak and be kind to you on an individual basis.

What are your services like?
Michiana Baptist Church is a group of people that are excited about serving God.  We serve a living Savior and we worship Him with life and vitality.  This is evident in every area of our vibrant worship services. The music is uplifting, the Preaching is practical, passionate and powerful.  Our Sunday worship services usually last a little over an hour.

Is childcare available?

Michiana gladly provides free professional childcare for every service in our state of the art nurseries.  Our nurseries are safe, secure, sanitary and staffed by professionally trained workers.  Every child's parent is given a pager as they drop off their baby or toddler.  In the event that a parent is needed he or she will be paged.

What is there for my kids?
Every service provides free nursery care for all children through age 4.  Our Sunday School classes are held for newborn children through Grade 12. During the Sunday morning service, Children from age 5 – 6th grade have their own service on their level.  Parents may choose to keep their child with them in the service; however, it is recommended that they send their child to his own service.  The philosophy for our children’s service is to prepare them to become "adult worshipers".  Although the kid’s service is fun and on their level, it is still a time of worship, singing and preaching.  On Wednesday nights, during the school, year we have Bible clubs for kids from preschool age to 12th grades.  Every worker in our children’s ministries is carefully selected, trained and professionally prepared.  They love children and want to help your son or daughter to know Christ and be more like Him!

Who is welcome to come?

Everyone! Michiana is only concerned about one thing: helping every person we possibly can to deepen their relationship with God. We are not an exclusive or highbrow church. We love every one regardless of economic, social or racial circumstance.  We strive to be the friendliest church on earth!  We look forward to seeing you soon as you search for a church home.

How can I join?

Any person, who is saved and baptized in a church of like faith, is eligible for transfer membership.  Any person who has received Christ but not been baptized in a church of like faith may be baptized into our membership.
The method of transfer is “by letter” where we contact your previous church and request a letter testifying to your good standing.  In some cases a "statement of faith", testifying to your conversion and baptism may be offered.

What is an invitation?
At the end of each service, following the preaching, an invitation or altar call is given.  This is a private time where people are offered an opportunity to receive Christ or make other decisions.  When the congregation is instructed to rise, with their eyes closed and heads bowed, the instruments will gently be playing.  At this time anyone can walk to the front of the auditorium, where the pastor or another preacher will greet you privately.  He will assist you and if private prayer is needed he will appoint one of our ladies to work with ladies and men with men.  These Christians will help you with whatever your need is.  If you desire, you may pray at our altar without speaking to anyone.

What does “born again” or “saved” mean?
